High School: RAYMOND, Ernstley

Place Grand Goave

Age 13

Gender Male

Name of School Ceour e Ceour

Ernstley lives in Grand Goave with his little brother and his parents. His mom spends most of her time at home looking after the boys, but she also has a small stand in front of her house that she uses to sell candy & snacks to school kids as they pass by. Ernstley’s dad just recently got out of prison and is doing odd jobs when he can find them. He used to drive a motorcycle tap-tap (taxi) and he’d like to get back into that as soon as he gets back on his feet.

Ernstley’s favorite sport is soccer. It’s not just his favorite sport, it’s his favorite thing in life! He thinks of little else. When we asked him what he likes to do in school, he said, “I like playing soccer at break.” When we asked him if he likes being a big brother, he said, “I get to teach my little brother to play soccer, of course I like that!” When we asked him what he likes to buy at the market he said “Nothing, I’m saving my money to buy a soccer ball.”  He’s one passionate kid and we’re sure that will serve him well one day!

Helping Ernstley go to school would not only help the family financially, but it would give them a boost emotionally too. They have had a very tough year with Ernstley’s dad in prison and they are looking forward to a brighter future.
