Youvika lives in the small mountain community of Bouvard. Along with her sister and brother, Youvika is expected to help on the family farm and she doesn’t mind the hard work at all. She enjoys getting the land ready to plant and she takes pride in how many buckets of water she can carry before needing a break.
If Youvika was given a choice she would spend all of her time in the garden, and not go to school at all, but she knows that education will give her options that her parents didn’t have and she appreciates the opportunity to go.
Youvika’s mom thinks that her work ethic and attention to details would make Youvika a great nurse one day. She would like to see her graduate and go on to college but feels that would be out of reach for their family.
Helping Youvika go to school would be practical way to come alongside this family.
