The monthly amount needed to sponsor a student is divided into shares - each share is $10/month. You can choose to be the child's only sponsor and select all of the shares, or you can choose a portion of the shares and another sponsor(s) will take the remaining shares. Bernadine is a lively & independent young girl who loves going to school. She lives in Grand Goave with her mother and attends a local elementary school. Although her parents aren't living together her dad is active in her life and she loves to spend time with him as well. Bernadine's parents are both self employed and are working hard to build their businesses. Her mother braids hair and her father drives a "tap-tap" (public transportation) motorcycle. While they are both hard workers they aren't able to make ends meet and afford to send Bernadine to school.
