Bethshaina’s hometown is a small mountain community in northern Haiti called Boava. Her parents still live there but Bethshaina moved in with her aunt, who lives in Grand Goave, when she was 2 years old. Her parents were struggling to take care of her and they were considering sending her to a children’s home. Bethshaina’s aunt grew up in a children’s home and offered to take her in instead of having her go there.
We met Bethshaina’s aunt because she has a small business and recently applied for a small business loan. We love her initiative and her compassion and we are happy to come alongside her so that she can support Bethshaina while she grows her business.
Bethshaina was excited to go into grade 1 this year and get some books as she loves to read.
