Marie Love is a farmer’s daughter and proud of it! She loves to spend time with her parents in their family garden in the mountain community of Tetebef. She has 2 brothers & 1 sister and they all love being outside in the garden as much as she does. Their family plants corn, beans, potatoes, yams, and many other root vegetables.
If given the choice Marie Love would actually prefer to stay at home instead of going to school, but her parents want her to have more options than they had. There is no school in Tetebef so Marie Love spends most of her time at her aunt’s house in Grand Goave… a two hour walk down the mountain. She goes to a local school close to her aunt’s house.
Helping Marie Love continue school is very important as she is already behind her age group, and is one of the older children in grade 1. If she gets farther behind she may become discouraged in later grades.
