Mother’s Day is just a few days away... will you help us share hope this year by sponsoring a student?

We will deliver the good news to the student’s mother on Mother's Day, along with a large bag of rice. What a great way to share hope, empower families in Haiti, and help meet a physical need during this pandemic.

There are 12 students on our website that are waiting for sponsorship.

One of those students is Cedline

Cedline’s parents passed away when she was very young and she has grown up with her Aunt & Uncle in Bouva, a small mountain village in northwest Haiti called Bouva. She has a sweet nature and sticks close to her aunt. Life in a rural mountain community has taught her a variety of important life skills. She knows how to find drinkable water by digging beside a river bank; she can dry a wet shirt on a rock without it getting dirty again (even if it’s white); she can build a fire in seconds; and she can make a meal for a unexpected visitor regardless of what’s in her pantry. Despite having a shy nature, she is confident, strong willed and determined. Cedline loves to sing and will often be heard singing or humming as she’s working.

Cedline went to Elementary School in Bouva but had to move to a larger city to go to High School. She lives with her cousin while she attends school and goes back to Boava on the weekend and school breaks. While she loves going to school she misses the mountains when she’s away.

Cedline’s Aunt and Uncle have been paying for her schooling with the profits they make from their small business and crops they sell from their gardens. However, the past year has been so tough that they are not able to continue to do so. Most young girls in Cedline’s situation would not expect to finish school, they would be resigned to a life of a restavek child (domestic servant). Helping her finish school would not only be investing in her future but it would help validate the loving way her Aunt and Uncle have cared for her, and would serve as a powerful example to others in the community.
