The voices of my Haitian friends and family hold such hopelessness this week.

They are exhausted from the constant turmoil and many don’t know what outcome they want anymore. They know that if the Opposition party succeeds in bullying the President to step down, then one of them will swindle their way into power and what will that look like? If someone is willing to destroy so much to gain power, do they really have the country’s best interest in mind? The answer appears to be easy… you should want the President to finish his term and then hold another election. But what does the next few years look like if the President remains but doesn’t have the power, nor resources, to stop the lawlessness?

People are tired, hungry and fear that either outcome leaves them with a bleak foreseeable future. I can understand completely where their feelings of hopelessness come from.

When I was talking to my friend today about the unrest he said to me, “Men, Bondye kapab, nap tann Bondye!” … “But, God is able, we’re waiting for God”.

I am so grateful for this reminder that even in the fog of hopelessness, we can find hope in God!

Please join me in praying for Haiti this week. Pray that those who are searching for hope in a seemingly hopeless situation will find their hope in the God that created them & loves them!
